I know that recruiting or sponsoring is a mystery for most people, but after personally sponsoring hundreds or possibly thousands of distributors during my entire career, I came to a single conclusion -- MLM recruiting is an art form that can be learned by anyone who commits to learning it!

I've found and personally proven that the art of recruiting can be broken down to five (5) very simple steps. Yep, a 5 step linear process! If you master the five-step formula, you will be able to sponsor as many people as you want in various situations.

Here's the very simple 5-step process:

3) Increase Buying Desire
4) Turn Prospects Into Buyers

Believe it or not, that's it. Online gurus try to hype it up and make it sound so complicated. But in reality, recruiting is not very hard, if you understand how it works.

The first thing you would want is to generate leads. How is it done? There is no single way to generate leads. And that's the beauty of it. There are umpteen different ways to advertise and promote your business or website. But the key is this -- when you make an effort to generate leads, make sure that you know your market. That means, you should advertise in the right places, use the right words, appeal to to their existing needs.

You build trust and rapport by sharing free valuable information to your leads. What you should give must be something of value to you personally. Don't just give a free ebook which contains nonsense, crappy information. Give your best info available! Share valuable content, how to's, step by step instructions, insider tips, etc.

You increase buying desire by using the right words and understanding psychological triggers. This is where copywriting and salesmanship comes in. Really, this process is not so complicated. It's all about understanding the needs and wants of your readers, then appeal to those needs and wants in your ads and marketing messages. This increases buying desire.

You turn prospects into buyers by giving them an irresistible offer. Something that is shockingly good. In the Godfather's words, an offer that they can't refuse! When you offer something that is extremely valuable at the cheapest price possible, people want to buy from you and have a transaction with you. You don't have to mislead people and trick them into buying. Just offer something valuable, something they need, and at a laughably cheap price!

Lastly, you turn these customers into buyers by showing them your business opportunity. If you followed all the steps above correctly, you now have your prospect's attention, and he/she will attentively listen to what you have to say next. Make the signup process extremely easy for your prospect. You can do this by giving him/her specific instructions..Step 1, Step 2, Step 3..etc...until he succesfully finishes the signup process. Don't hide any information! Be blunt about the rates and signup fees, but be blunt about the income potential as well.

Now days there are so many home based business opportunities to choose from, literally thousands of them. Maybe even kajillions. It's like they're making them in a factory. Many of them are legit and many aren't so if you're new to the Home / Internet Based Business industry how do you tell which one to go with?

Even if you know for sure its legit, how do you tell that the company is structured in a way or has the right product or service that will give you the best chance for success? Because lets face it, you could be the greatest salesman the world has ever seen, but if you were selling eight track tape players right now, you probably wouldn't do too well. But who knows maybe you could. If so, let me know when your next training class is because I want a front row seat!

That aside, there are some things you can look for to help guide your decision. For example, if you're the kind of person that sucks at sales or loathes the thought of trying to sell someone something they've never even heard of then finding an opportunity that doesn't require you to sell their latest and greatest product should be at the top of your list of 'Must Haves'. Why? Glad you asked.

First, if you're constantly doing sales presentations when will you have time for the things you really want to do, like playing the Saxophone. Oh, that's mine...my bad got carried away.Second, to be successful in most home businesses you have to duplicate. So even if you're a great salesperson, most of the people on your team won't be!

So at least for me, the best business opportunity is one where I have nothing to sell, and one that lets people buy what they want from whom they want when they want to. Do opportunities like this exist? They do, but you have to know what to look for, and you're well on your way towards building a checklist that will help you chose the opportunity that's right for you.

So, because most network marketing opportunities only cost a few hundred dollars, they are the only way for most of us to get residual income for retirement. But there is a problem.

But how do you every tell which ones are good opportunities and which aren't?

If you have looked at any network marketing opportunities, you have noticed that they all claim to have the "best product", the "best compensation plan", the "best opportunity" and the "best founder" in the entire industry.

With all the hype and thousands of opportunities in the network marketing industry, I'm going to share with you one question that you can ask yourself about any opportunity that will save you tons of time and eliminate 98% or more of them right away.

It is. . .

"Would you, yourself, buy the product or service being offered, at that price, if there were no business opportunity attached to it?"

Would you buy a $30 bottle of juice or a $5 bar of soap from a network marketing company when you can get something very similar in a store for 1/4th the price?

My recommendation is not to get involved with any network marketing opportunity that sells a product or service you would not buy yourself. It's not easy to build a business, but if you don't have a passion for the product or service being sold, it's almost impossible. It's too easy to quit.

Then, ask yourself if you would buy and use the product or service at the price it is being offered at?

If the answer is "no" on the price, that means people will only be getting involved for the opportunity, not the product.

It's a lot easier to build a business offering a product or service if that product or service stands alone as a good value.

So, again, only sign up for an opportunity where you can answer this question with a solid "Yes".

"Would you, yourself, buy the product or service being offered, at that price, if there were no business opportunity attached to it?"

This should help you to easily cut through the hype and find the really good opportunities.

Multi Level Marketing and the friends and colleagues you hold in high esteem seem to mix like oil and water. The question posed below is reminiscent of why Multilevel Marketing gets a bad name:

"I have this colleague at work who keeps trying to recruit me in his MLM team and I can't get him off my back. I know that in general these schemes are doomed to fail, that most of them are scams and the ones who make the money are the ones on top of the pyramid. I just don't want to get involved but he keeps showing me pamphlets and talking about all those "simple" people who got rich. The question I dread the most is "WHY" - "Why are you so sure it won't work?", "How can you be so prejudiced when you haven't even tried it?" and so on. And since "just a gut feeling" doesn't sound a reason enough to reject "such an opportunity" now I'm asking for an explanation exactly why MLM schemes are considered a failure. Thanks."

Now suffice it to say I've been involved over my lifetime with a few Multilevel Marketing companies and the strategy for recruiting people into my down line was always the same old cookie cutter approach, go tell ALL your friends/family members and colleagues about the "gift" or wonderful opportunity you have been given! Its amazing really when to stop to think about it, a gift? Really do you truly think that hounding and badgering the people closest to you is a gift?

Now back to reality. Here is the deal folks, Multilevel Marketing is a genuine opportunity to own and run your own business PERIOD. Its how you go about the daily activities of running and ultimately building your business that matters. Its true that the failure rate of people starting a MLM business is extremely high but so is any sales related occupation. Whenever I hear the statistics of this business it actually makes me a happy camper for this single reason, LESS competition! I can live with a 98% failure rate, its what separates the players from the wannabees.

I firmly believe that if you are determined and set your mind to "success" mode there is no stopping you at succeeding in this industry, and if you do the rewards are better than in any other industry I've ever come across! That being said there are more productive ways to going about building a successful MLM business than trying it the old fashioned way as outlined in the above question.
